Whether in business, public practice, government or education, CAs must meet the highest expectations of technical skills, professional judgment and trust. The CA profession's commitment to excellence and the public interest provides the crucial foundation for this trust.

 

In fact, Canada's CAs are recognized throughout the world for high professional standards, competency and integrity. At present, some 2,500 CAs from Ontario work in over 100 countries. And, while the uniqueness of the CA designation is founded mainly in the public-practice-based experience requirement for all CAs, about two-thirds of Ontario's 32,000 CAs work outside public practice in industry, government, academe and other sectors. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario licences its members in accordance with the Public Accounting Act, 2004.
