The Institute Serving the Public CAs CA Firms / CATOs CA Students / Education Admissions

CAs from other Provinces - Affiliation

Membership in another provincial institute will, ordinarily, qualify you for membership in this Institute pursuant to Bylaw 302 (1)(c)

The application form must be supported by:

  1. A provincial institute confirmation. Please request your present Institute to complete this confirmation of your membership status and send it directly to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

  2. Two referee recommendation letters, completed by two Canadian CAs, who are not related to you, and who have known you for at least one year.

To apply for admission to membership, return the application form with the appropriate ICAO annual membership fee. The fee is based on the fees to your provincial institute for current fiscal year. The application will not be processed until all of the supporting material has been received.

You will note that no admission fee is charged by the ICAO for members of another provincial institute.

We also wish to bring to your attention that you should not resign from your present Institute until your membership is confirmed in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

Finally, you are reminded that, unless you hold membership with this Institute, you are not permitted to use the designation "chartered accountant" and the initials "CA" or "FCA" in Ontario pursuant to The Chartered Accountants Act, 1956.

We look forward to your membership in the Institute. In the meantime, if you have any questions concerning the application process, please do not hesitate to contact customer service.
