2011 CARE Prep Program
A preparation program for Part-1 of the CARE is offered in Toronto and Vancouver, and for Part-2 of the CARE in Toronto only. Two versions are available: in-class and materials-only. The in-class version is subject to a minimum number of registrations.

Part-1 of the CARE
The CARE Prep Program Part-1 is offered in the in-class version in English only in mid-August; it consists of a three-day review of Canadian taxation (2 ½ days) and Canadian CA Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC) (½ day). The Canadian business law component is offered in a materials-only version.
The CARE Prep Program Part-1 review materials are provided as downloadable documents from a secure website to Applicants who registered for the CARE Prep Program Part-1. Some printed materials will also be shipped.
UPDATE: A practice examination is included in the CARE Prep Program Part-1 materials and is also available for a fee to Applicants who do not register for any of the CARE Prep Program offerings.
Part-2 of the CARE
The CARE Prep Program Part-2 is offered in an in-class version in English only in Toronto in mid-August. It consists of a three-day review of Canadian GAAP and Canadian GAAS and is subject to a minimum number of registrations.
The CARE Prep Program Part-2 review materials are provided as printed materials to Applicants who registered for the CARE Prep Program Part-2.
UPDATE: A practice examination is included in the CARE Prep Program Part-2 materials and is also available for a fee to Applicants who do not register for any of the CARE Prep Program offerings.
Fees (plus applicable taxes)
The CARE Prep Program Part-1 and/or the CARE Prep Program Part-2 are also offered in materials-only versions in English for Applicants who cannot attend the in-class version.
Printed materials are shipped at no additional cost to addresses within Canada. Shipment costs to destinations outside Canada will be billed in addition to the registration fees.
The registration fees for the CARE Prep Program Part-1 and/or the CARE Prep Program Part-2 do not include the fee for the examinations, and are payable to the institute offering the preparation program.
UPDATE: PLEASE NOTE THAT ONCE THE CARE PREP PROGRAM MATERIALS HAVE BEEN SHIPPED OR ACCESS TO DOWNLOADABLE MATERIALS HAS BEEN GRANTED, THE CARE PREP PROGRAM FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE, EXCEPT FOR THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE IN-CLASS AND THE MATERIALS-ONLY VERSIONS.

Past CARE's
CARE multiple-choice questions and solutions are not publicized given the non-disclosed nature of the examinations.
Past CARE's (2005 to 2009) with approaches to solutions are available on the ICAO’s website. These examinations are however not indicative of the current examination format and have not been updated to reflect changes in professional standards and legislation.

A list of reference/study materials is available. Please note that this list is not intended to be all-inclusive; it is indicative of the learning materials used at university in courses that prepare students for careers as Chartered Accountants.
PD Courses
Through its Professional Development department, the Institute also offers live refresher courses for CAs in personal and corporate income taxation. These courses may be of interest to Applicants who would like to follow a course of study prior to the CARE. With a registration as an Applicant, one is entitled to the CA – Regular course fees (see page 12 of the PDF version of the PD Catalogue).

CARE Prep Program Registration
To enrol in the CARE Prep Program Part-1 and/or Part-2, you should be first registered as an Applicant with the ICAO.
If you are registered as an Applicant in another provincial or territorial CA institute/ordre, you cannot enrol on line without having first registered with the ICAO; for that purpose you must contact Brenda Lun and provide the registration number assigned to you by your provincial or territorial CA institute/ordre along with additional information.
