Exemption From Employment Requirement For StudentsNew applicants have until December 31, 2011 to register under this exemption New applicants under the exemption from employment requirement will have until December 31, 2011 to submit to the Institute the CA student registration form requesting permission to register without employment. However to do so, applicants must have completed their four-year degree, or be eligible to register under one of the registration categories set out in Regulation 6-1, Section 5 and other applicable requirements in the regulation. After submitting the necessary CA student registration form, the supporting official university transcripts, including one that shows conferral of degree, may be provided as these become available but must be submitted to the Institute no later than 5 p.m. on June 30, 2012. For students approved to register under the exemption from employment requirement and wanting to proceed immediately through the ICAO Professional Program (i.e. the Core-Knowledge Examination and School of Accountancy), official university transcripts to support that the four-year degree, 51 credit hours and the GPA requirements have been met prior to the December 31, 2011 deadline must be provided in order to become eligible to do so. If the four-year degree has not been conferred, an official letter of good standing from the university, indicating the degree requirement has been met and the student will be graduating at the next graduation ceremony, will be accepted. However, official degree conferral documentation must still be provided by no later than 5 p.m. on June 30, 2012. How do I register as a CA student without employment? In order to be eligible to register as a CA student without employment you must send the Institute: • a written request for permission to register without employment, Ultimately to apply for admission to membership as a CA, any applicant or student who has been granted this exemption by the Registrar must obtain employment in a CA Training Office, fulfill the experience requirements and successfully complete or comply with all other requirements of Regulation 6-1. Already-registered students will be unaffected - subject to meeting requirements Please note, that the discontinuance of this special provision does not affect the registration status of any students already registered under it. These students will remain registered with the Institute subject to their continuing to fulfill all registration requirements as outlined by the Institute’s Bylaws and Regulations. Questions?
