CPA Ontario Serving the Public Members Firms / ATOs Students Become a Member

University - Conditional (Part time and Full time) 

If you are an individual who is attending a degree-granting institution in a program leading to a university degree on a part-time basis, while employed in an Approved Training Office on a full-time basis; Or attending a degree-granting institution in a program leading to a university degree on a full-time basis, while employed in an Approved Training Office on a part-time basis the following steps outline the process of becoming a CPA.

  1. Obtain paid employment at an Approved Training Office.
  2. Register as a Student by submitting the following by submitting the following:
  3. Complete either prior to or while registered in good standing as a Student, 51 credit hours in specific courses.
  4. Complete the Staff Training Program within the first twenty eight months of the Practical Experience Requirement.
  5. Complete the CPA Ontario's Professional Program which currently consists of the Core-Knowledge Exam and the School of Accountancy. Successful completion of the CPA Ontario Professional Program establishes eligibility to attempt the Uniform Final Evaluation (UFE). Please note that the CKE and SOA will not be offered after July 2014. Students who have not successfully completed the CKE and/or the SOA by July 31, 2014 will be required to complete the successor requirement(s) as prescribed by Council.
  6. Successfully complete the Uniform Final Evaluation (UFE).
  7. Complete the Experience Requirement at an Approved Training office.
  8. Complete the admission to membership application form.
  9. Upon approval from CPA Ontario, the student will be granted the CPA designation.

 

A Student may be responsible for additional costs imposed by external parties.  These costs are not levied by CPA Ontario and are beyond CPA Ontario’s control. Therefore, CPA Ontario is unable to advise Students of the total gross or net costs (after taking into account reimbursements or other subsidies made available by external parties) of the registration and qualification to membership processes. All costs levied by CPA Ontario have been approved by Council and are found in Regulation 4-2, Dues.

 

Appeal Rights

A decision of the Registrar not to register or reregister an individual as a Student or to deregister a Student may be appealed by the individual or Student to CPA Ontario’s Membership Committee.  The parties to an appeal are the individual appealing and the Registrar.  The appeal shall be conducted in accordance with CPA Ontario’s Rules of Practice and Procedure. The decision of the Membership Committee is final.
