University Co-Operative Degree Program

If you are a student enrolled in an approved co-operative degree program approved by Council, the following steps outline the process of becoming a CA.

1. Obtain paid employment at an approved CA Training Office.
2. Register as a student by submitting the following:
   • A correctly completed application form
   • The appropriate fee remittance
   • All required supporting documentation
3. Complete either prior to or while registered in good standing as a student, 51 credit hours in specific courses.
4. Complete the Staff Training Program within the first twenty-eight months of the Practical Experience Requirement.
5. Complete the ICAO Professional Program (IPP) which consists of the Core-Knowledge Exam and the School of Accountancy. Successful completion of the IPP establishes eligibility to attempt the Uniform Final Evaluation (UFE).
6. Successfully complete the Uniform Final Evaluation (UFE).
7. Complete the Experience Requirement at a CA Training Office.
8. Complete the admission to membership application form.
9. Upon approval from the Institute, the student will be granted the CA designation.

Appeal Rights

A decision of the Registrar not to register or reregister an individual as a Student or to deregister a Student may be appealed by the individual or Student to the Institute’s Membership Committee.  The parties to an appeal are the individual appealing and the Registrar.  The appeal shall be conducted in accordance with the Institute’s Rules of Practice and Procedure. The decision of the Membership Committee is final.
