Beginning September 23, 2009 VIA Rail is increasing our preferred discount rate from 5% to 10% on all VIA rail train tickets and routes. The rate applies to the best regular pre-tax fare available to the public offered by VIA rail when the ticket is purchased. The reduced rate applies to business trips and personal travel and extends to a maximum of three additional travellers, provided the CA member accompanies them.

When you reserve a ticket online or through the telephone sales office, be sure to indicate the 810668 account identification number to benefit from the reduced rate. You may have to present photo i.d. to receive your ticket at the station.

When you purchase a ticket at the station, you must provide the 810668 account identification number, and present i.d. proving that you are a member of the Institute (eg: your business card) as well as photo i.d.

VIA rail ticket agents are not authorized to give members the account identification number by telephone or in person. It is the responsibility of each member to obtain the number on the Institute’s website.

On-Line reservation

Go to http://www.viarail.ca/en/fares/business-travel/corporate-fares/ca-ontario

1. From the main screen, click on My Profile.
2. Select New User. Create profile. Family members are also eligible for the Corporate Discount. Enter their information here as well.
3. Complete all required information fields, then click Create profile.
4. You are now ready to book your trip. Follow the instructions.
5. Review your itinerary, make any necessary changes and click Book Now.
6. The next screen will ask you to validate your contact information, then click Continue.
7. Next you will be asked to select the passenger for ticket from the drop down window, select the correct passenger. Next click on Discount Type. Select Corporate Discount.
8. In the adjacent box Discount Code, enter your corporate account number, then click Continue. Up to three family tickets can benefit from the Corporate Discount.
9. The discount fare will be calculated and appear for you to view. Complete the payment information at the bottom of the page. Click the I Accept box, then click on Book and Pay.

Your booking is now complete.  A printed copy of this page is required to pick up your ticket at the station.

Over the phone

Call 1 888 VIA.RAIL (1 888 842.7245) tell the sales agent that you are a corporate account.

• Identify your corporate account name (i.e. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario) and your Corporate account number.
• You will be asked a number of questions to set up your personal profile in our system (this is a one time step that will not be required for future bookings.)
• The VIA agent will book your trip as per your instruction and advise you of your discount code.
