Staff Training Program

Students are required to complete the staff training program within the first twelve months of the Practical Experience Requirement (as outlined in Regulation 6-1 of the ICAO Member's Handbook), or be exempted by virtue of having completed an Institute-approved in-firm/in-office equivalent. For students enrolled in a co-op program, the determination of the twelve-month period takes into account only the co-op work terms completed from the date of registration with the Institute.

The objective of this program is to familiarize students with the performance of audit and non-audit engagements, the operation of a public accounting office, and the rules and regulations which govern the practice of public accountancy in Ontario.  Ideally this course should be taken after completing at least an introductory audit course and prior to writing the CKE.

Registration will only be accepted by fax and mail if a student's registration has not been processed 
and provided the course is not full.

Cancellations: Cancellation and transfer requests must be received in writing.  Cancellations are 
subject to an administrative fee of $50 plus HST and must be received more than eight days prior 
to the course date.  Refunds are not issued for cancellations received less than eight days prior to 
the course date.

All Institute Staff Training courses run Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to approx. 5:00 pm.  
Attendance at this course is mandatory and students who are not in full-time attendance 
all five days will not have met the requirements of ICAO Regulation 6-1.  Lateness and/or 
early departures are treated the same as absences.

Please ensure you advise us of any dietary restrictions (i.e. vegetarian) a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of the course.
