New Seminar - Transitioning to GAAP for Private Enterprises

The Accounting Standards Board expects to release the new accounting standards for private enterprises in mid-December. While these new standards are effective for annual financial statements for fiscal years beginning on or after January 1, 2011, early adoption is permitted, so they may be used for 2009 calendar year-end reporting. We are adding a new full-day course to the Fall/Winter 2009/10 PD Program on Transitioning to GAAP for Private Enterprises.

This course provides a review of new GAAP for private enterprises, released in December 2009, comparing it with the current GAAP standards contained in the CICA Handbook. It will provide detailed guidance on the new standards and help participants understand the impact that these standards will have on the accounting model and financial statements of these organizations

This course will benefit all practitioners and preparers of Canadian GAAP financial statements for private enterprises.

Editors Note (Dec 10): Due to overwhelming demand after the initial release of this newsletter, we are attempting to add additional offerings. Please visit our website for an up to date listing, or visit this link for a list of courses recently added.

Building a Financial Model

We are pleased to introduce a new course this season that will enhance your financial modelling skills. During this one-day seminar, participants will learn how to design a logical and clearly laid out financial model of a company. Using Microsoft Excel, participants will construct and incorporate critical schedules such as revenues, costs, depreciation, working capital, debt and equity in to their models. Participants will also create switches in their models to create effective scenarios and value drivers.

This seminar is led by Ian Schnoor, CFA, who has years of experience teaching financial modeling to business professionals in various banks, pension funds, corporations and universities.

Join us if you wish to learn to build financial models that will serve as powerful communication tools and which will add tremendous value to a decision-making process.

Financial Modelling – Building a Financial Model will be offered in Toronto on Thursday, January 21.
