Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario elects 2006-2007 governing Council

Keith Farlinger, FCA, elected Chair; Council membership includes strong regional representation

TORONTO (June 22, 2006) - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario announced the election of its 2006-2007 governing Council, including the introduction of a new Chair, at its Annual General Meeting. Eight members were either elected or re-elected to the Council and Keith Farlinger, FCA, Toronto Region Managing Partner at BDO Dunwoody LLP, assumed the role of Council Chair for a two-year term.

The 2006 - 2007 Executive Group members are:

  • Chair - Keith Farlinger
  • Vice Chair - Gerald Mills
  • Council Finance Committee Chair - Gregory Gallant
  • Council Bylaws Review Committee Chair - Bonnie Foster
  • Membership Committee Chair - John Friday
  • Executive Member-at-Large - Laurie Woodruff
  • Public Representative - D'Arcy Delamere  

 

The three newly elected members of the Institute's 16-member governing Council for a two-year term are: 

  • Julie Bertoia, CA, Head of Accounting Policy, Head Office Centric, RBC Financial Group, Toronto
  • Garry Foster, FCA, Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Toronto
  • Bruce McConomy, CA, Associate Professor, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo  

 

Members-at-large re-elected to the Institute's Council for a two-year term commencing 2006-2007 are:

  • Marrianne Bridge, CA, Manager, Compliance, Capital Markets of the Ontario Securities Commission, Toronto
  • John Friday, FCA, Director, Management Services, Children's Centre Thunder Bay
  • Gregory Gallant, CA, Partner, Grant Thornton LLP, Toronto
  • Richard Johnston, FCA, Partner, Johnston Beaudette, Cornwall
  • Robert Scullion, Partner, Ernst & Young LLP, Toronto  

 

The other elected members of Council, whose two-year terms continue until the end of the 2006-2007 year, are:

  • Mary Aduckiewicz, FCA, Chief Financial Officer, R. Denninger Limited, Hamilton
  • James Barnett, FCA, Director, Masters of Taxation Programs, University of Waterloo
  • Bonnie Foster, FCA, Partner, Ross Pope & Company, Timmins
  • Gerald Mills, FCA, Partner, Collins Barrow KMD, London
  • Marilyn Stitt, CA, Partner, KPMG LLP, Toronto
  • Linda Thibeault, CA, Senior Audit Manager, Kendall Sinclair Finch Pigden Cowper & Thibeault LLP, North Bay
  • Laurence Woodruff, FCA, Audit Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Toronto

  

The Ontario government also appoints four public representative positions to the Council. They are D'Arcy Delamere, Tim Kennish, Dina Palozzi and Dr. James Young.

The Council boasts a cross-section of business and community leaders from communities across Ontario, including Cornwall, Hamilton, London, Mississauga, North Bay, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Thunder Bay, Timmins, Toronto and Waterloo.
