CAs recognize their best and brightest under 40ICAO names 8 Award of Distinction 2009 recipients
Toronto, Ontario (September 21, 2009) – The Chartered Accounting profession is honouring its up and coming young talent with the 2009 Awards of Distinction, which recognizes recipients’ past achievements and bright futures. Every three years, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO) Award of Distinction honours those CAs who have made an early impact, bringing distinction to themselves and to their profession through leadership and achievement in their professional, community and/or personal lives. As the award is intended to honour younger CAs, the age of 40 years has been chosen as a cut-off. As a result, only those CAs born in 1969 or later were eligible for consideration for 2009. The ICAO Award of Distinction recipients were chosen following a rigorous nomination and selection process which culminated in a secret-ballot vote of the Council. An Award Review Committee – comprised of five current and former Council members – first evaluated all nominations and made its recommendation on each nominee to assist Council members, who then made their own independent evaluation of the nominees. A two-thirds majority vote of the Council was required to elect a nominee. The 2009 recipients of the ICAO Award of Distinction are listed alphabetically below, followed by their community (where residence and business localities differ, both are shown, in that order).
The 2009 recipients of the Award will be honoured on September 24, 2009 at a presentation ceremony and dinner in Toronto. -30-
