Toronto Chartered Accounting student captures Ontario Gold Medal17 Ontario students earn honours in Canada-wide CA examToronto (December 6, 2007) – Lindsay Chu of Toronto captured the Ontario Gold Medal as the top writer of the Uniform Evaluation (UFE) in the province. A total of 17 Ontario CA students placed on the prestigious National Honour Roll, making 2007 a very good year for this province. Overall, 953 Ontario CA students have successfully passed the UFE, one of the world’s most challenging professional entry examinations. The UFE, written in September, is a national three-day evaluation that assesses competencies including essential knowledge, professional judgment, ethics and the ability to communicate. The UFE is an important component of the CA qualification program, which includes prescribed education, practical experience and examination requirements. Only those who complete this entire program successfully are entitled to use the internationally recognized designation of Chartered Accountant, a profession known for superior financial expertise, strategic thinking, business insight and leadership. Ms. Chu articles with Ernst & Young LLP in Toronto and has a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Toronto - Scarborough. “I chose to become a CA because I really feel that this is a career that opens doors for people, ”she said. “I knew that if I wanted to, I would be able to take the skills I developed while working towards my CA to any other profession of my choosing. Additionally, I am really enjoying working towards my CA because I feel that I am constantly challenged and learning.” The following Ontario UFE writers have also achieved recognition on the 2007 National Honour Roll:
Ontario UFE writers captured 17 of 52 National Honour roll spots and, of the 2,327 successful candidates in Canada, 953 were from Ontario.
