Jan Klakurka is Director, Corporate Planning and Business Development of Wasteco, a waste management and recycling company based in Toronto, where he leads strategy, long-term and operational planning, change management, and development activities. Prior to Wasteco, Jan was Corporate Controller and Director, Process Improvement for U.K.-based infrastructure and construction services company, Carillion, and was a project manager with the strategy consulting practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Jan’s professional experience also includes working for both General Motors and McCarney Greenwood, an entrepreneur-focused CA firm.
Jan has facilitated workshops on topics ranging from data gathering and analysis, to process re-design and organizational structuring. His functional experience, while focused on financial areas, also spans supply chain, project management and change and communications.
Outside of his role in industry, Jan is an instructor in the undergraduate Commerce program at the University of Toronto, where he teaches fourth-year Introduction to Strategic Management. Recent speaking engagements at the University of Toronto and Brock University were on leadership, consulting, financial management and career planning.
