Change to CRA Income Tax Rulings Phone Services
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is temporarily replacing the Income Tax Rulings 'Hot Line' phone service (613-957-8953) with an e-mail service (itrulingsdirectorate@cra-arc.gc.ca) until October. Currently, CRA hosts this electronic mail box service for comments on their technical publications.
During the summer months, this process will enable Rulings officers to efficiently batch the queries and provide a turnaround electronically within five working days. This turnaround period is limited to the types of questions normally handled by telephone which offer to provide the caller with information on current published positions. Note that complex topics may require more than five days. Callers with questions that would normally be considered a technical opinion request will be advised that is how the request will be handled, and an officer will contact them should more information be required. Also, please do not send confidential taxpayer information in the e-mail query.

Participate in a CA Sports League
As the summer is in full swing, so are a number of CA Sports Leagues - softball, soccer, tennis, and golf. Participating in the various CA Sports League teams provides a venue for CAs of different backgrounds to partake in some friendly competition, while enjoying reconnecting with old friends and making new ones.
Please visit the CA Sports League area of the Institute's website for current information. Contact the respective conveners to join – or consider forming your own team to enter. Space may be limited, so plan and organize in advance.
Note that the hockey season is quickly approaching, and the CA Hockey League - GTA is looking for players for a new team (CA Independents).
